Markets expect Trump’s latest China tariffs will backfire as gold jumps and the dollar ‘is not looking healthy’.

Financial markets suffered a rerun of their swoon in April, when “Liberation Day” tariffs shocked global investors, signaling that his latest China duties may end up hurting the U.S. more than their intended target.

On Friday, President Donald Trump said he will impose an additional 100% tariff on China and limit U.S. exports of software, after China restricted its exports of rare earths.

IThe S&P 500 sank 2.7%, its worst selloff since April 10. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar index plunged nearly 0.7% as Treasury yields fell, while gold prices surged more than 1.5%.

In this episode Peter Schiff says the writing is on the wall — gold and silver are the real winners in the global economy’s next big shake-up. While everyone else chases Bitcoin and tech stocks, he warns that paper money and risky assets are headed for trouble. Schiff believes central banks have printed themselves into a corner, flooding the system with cheap dollars and creating inflation that eats away at savings. In his view, gold and silver aren’t just safe havens — they’re the last honest forms of money left.

As trade tensions and tariffs rise, Schiff argues these pressures will push investors back toward hard assets. He says gold and silver will surge as confidence in the dollar fades and central banks lose control. To him, every new policy mistake out of Washington is another reason to stack precious metals now, before the rush begins.
