The stories continue... Sadly, as we have speculated. it seems that many of the 120 hostages are already dead. The worldwide antisemitism has caused more and more Jews to consider moving to Israel.

Things are heating up as the US and others are pushing for some type of immediate ceasefire agreement. However, Israel and Hamas have completely different views of how all this will turn out after the dust settles.

Headline 1 Israel says more than a third of Gaza hostages are dead

Israel believes that more than a third of the remaining Gaza hostages are dead, a government tally showed on Tuesday, as the United States sought to advance their recovery under a proposal to wind down the war with Hamas.

The government tally said 120 remain in captivity, 43 of whom have been declared dead in absentia based on various sources of information, including intelligence tip-offs, CCTV or bystander videos and forensic analysis.

This is the sad truth that we are dealing with. How many are alive, where they are, what condition are they in, are questions that do not have definitive answers. The more time that goes by, the chances for any of them coming out alive dims.

EJA Chief Rabbi Menachem Margolin says Europe's Jewish communities fighting for survival ... More than 100 Jewish community leaders and pro-Israel organization heads from across Europe gathered Monday in Amsterdam for an emergency meeting organized by the European Jewish Association (EJA).

This is a natural or logical result of the antisemitism we see worldwide. As difficult as it may be to reside in Israel, at least they are in a place that is supportive.

Headline 3 US submits draft UN resolution on Gaza ceasefire deal

The United States on Monday submitted a new resolution to the UN Security Council expressing support for the hostage release and ceasefire proposal unveiled by Joe Biden last week.

US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said, “Numerous leaders and governments, including in the region, have endorsed this plan and we call on the Security Council to join them in calling for implementation of this deal without delay and without further conditions.”

Of course, the key are issues, as far as Israel is concerned, are not directly addressed. What will become of Hamas?

Israel’s goal is complete eradication of their leadership role as well as their ability to inflict harm on the citizens of Israel.

Hamas will certainly not agree to their own demise, nor will they give up their rulership of Gaza. Instead, they see an agreement that would allow them to continue as well as rebuild.

So, basically what we have here are two competing versions of what things will look like at the end of the day.

As negotiations for a potential ceasefire and hostage release intensify, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is grappling with significant internal pressures to maintain his coalition’s unity and reassure key figures that the conflict will not end with Hamas intact.

This is the key question: how can an agreement be made when Israel and Hamas are working toward completely different outcomes?

And finally, here we go again…

Headline 5 UN experts urge all countries to recognize Palestinian statehood

A two-state solution would only bring disaster to the state of Israel. This is why they will never agree to such a conclusion.

Summing Up

Although militarily Israel has the advantage, time is not on their side. The situation with the hostages, the desire of the Biden administration, to get the war over as soon as possible, is hindering Israel from meeting its stated goal, the demise of Hamas and the desire for the people to live in peace and safety.

So, we wait to see how all of this turns out in the short term. We do know, from Scripture, how it will eventually turn out. That’s the good news!

However, before this happens we also know that a time of great trouble is in Israel’s future.. Therefore, we watch and pray!
